He appears as an Episcopal clergyman for St Johns Parrish at age 41 in the 1930 Federal Census of Duval County, Florida. He appears with his wife Marian, age 48, to whom he had been married for 15 years.

He appears with his wife Sarah in the 1940 Federal Census of Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, living at the St Johns Parish Home for Children where he is the priest and director. The census shows 11 children as residents of the home. He and Sarah had married in 1937 in Leon County, Florida.
