Notes

  • received Hocton (or Houghton) in marriage
  • ~The Houghton Genealogy, p. 20, wife of Hamo Pincerna, and daughter of Richard Bussell, second baron of Penwortham, in Lancashire.
  • The marriage to Maud, daughter of Warin Bussel is not documented in Burke's Peerage. Instead, according to Burke's Peerage, Hamo's grandson Adam married an unnamed daughter of Warin Bussel. If Burke's is correct, it makes this marriage somewhat questionable.
  • https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bussel-2 The Lancashire Inquests, Extents and Feudal Aids, by William Farrer, refers to six daughters of Warine Bussel, who are given in marriage either by their father or their brother Richard.[1] Unfortunately only one daughter is named and it's impossible to tell if these are six separate sisters, or whether some of them may have been widowed and these marriages represent a second or even third marriage. "Warine (Bussel) gave to Hamon le Boteler in frank marriage with his daughter, ij carucates of land in Heton and in Etheliston"[2]“
