Ammini Philip

My grandmother " Ammini Philip" is the widow of Koshy Philip more affectionately known in Kollemvarieth circle as Bobby or Baby.

Bobby was the eldest son of Late W.K. Philip of the Wattasseril family from Mallappally. Late W.K. Philip worked for many years at Kanam Devan plantations and was the youngest brother of Annamma Oommen " Kottamachi".

When WKP was refused leave to look after his ailing mother, he submitted his resignation to the then British boss and left the company.

Bobby was also first cousin to the Kollemvarieth's 3rd generation and passed away in Ernakulam in 2010 at the age of 90 years, leaving behind my grandmother Ammini.

Ammini is from the Modayil family and lives at Kripa, 4th Cross, Panampally Nagar, Kochi - 36. She is old and frail now. But there was a time when she was a force to reckon with. Hardworking, very capable, strong willed and independent. She still is all that, but to a much lesser degree. I will always remember her as the person who was waiting at home for me to get back from school, cooked delicious dishes, had appam and stew waiting at home every Sunday after church ( the only reason for me to wake up on a sunday morning and go to church).

In the evenings, when we had family prayer, she would always kneel down (however bad her knees hurt), cooked countless meals for friends, relatives, loved entertaining and helping others. My grandmother Ammini is being looked after by her only daughter Betty. Ammini has 2 grand children " Sapna " that's me & my brother "Sachin".

While I have 3 children ( 2 boys and 1 girl) my brother has one son. In Ammini's profile picture, you can see her playing with Isaac, Isaiah and Sachin's son Joshua ( the baby).
