Amos married Mary Ann Carmichael 1780, Stokes Co., NC. Amos was very active in the political activities in Stokes county, NC. He was probably a veteran of the Revolutionary War (according to rules of Ga. Land Lottery) and may have received a disabling wound in that war. Amos moved to Pickens Co. SC, ca. 1785 where he is recorded as being a Justice of the Peace in Pickens county. He sold his land in Pickens county to John Ladd, who was most likely his son, in 1818. Amos moved to Georgia ca. 1822 where he participated in the Georgia Land Lottery and was awarded land in Habersham county Georgia. Mary Ladd is listed as the head of the household on the 1830 Georgia census and it is assumed that Amos had died.
