Ana Domeyko Alamos was an extraordinary woman who studied to be a concert pianist and who gathered her family together every Christmas to celebrate a Nativity Play which she organized for the children in the family. Over the years the plays grew in scope and became quite famous in Santiago. She was the last living grandchild of Ignacio Domeyko Ancuta, the Polish sage who emigrated to Chile and had a distinguished career there. Ana Domeyko, known as Anita Domeyko by her family and the numerous visitors who graced her home over the years, among them musicians, poets, politicians and foreign dignataries, lived to the advanced age of 105, outliving all of her siblings. She exerted a strong inspirational influence over her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews and nieces, among other young people, during her lifetime.
