Andrew N Rosendahl was born in Dvergstenseiet, Tingelstad, Norway; his parents were Nils and Ingeborg (Cornelius) Rosendahl. They came to this country when Andrew was 11-12 yrs old. His uncle Peder C Thompson sponsored his family and they settle in Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota.
In a 1900 census he is found working as a hired hand in the household of Hans Setbacken of Baker, Kingsbury County, South Dakota. It is assumed that this is how met Mathilda Torgrud, since Hans was her Uncle.
On January 30, 1901 they were married in Kingsbury County, South Dakota. They then moved to Scotia township, Bottineau County, North Dakota. Years later we find that they have moved with their family across the river to Westhope, North Dakota.
Andrew worked for the city doing all kinds of jobs, including grave digging. He also served for a time as Police Chief.
Andrew & Mathilda raised 7 children.
