Brief overview:

Andre (50), was shot through a closed door seven times at his home in Muldersdrift on Thursday 13th September 2012, and died on Saturday 15th in the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto. Surgeons had still not operated on Andre two days after he was shot. He was hit three times in the abdomen, twice in the chest, in his left arm and right shoulder.

André and Kevin pushed the door from inside while Shaun ran to the neighbours for help.

  • Police chased a group of men to a field near the N14 Swartkop off-ramp, where a shoot-out ensued. One of the men was wounded, another ran away, and two others were arrested.

  • The suspects were to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court on 17th September.
  • The case against Alfred Zwane and Samson Madlaza was postponed to October 15 as the discharge from hospital of the third accused, Maniri Lubisi, was being awaited. Zwane and Madlaza remained in custody.
  • Finally, after more than a year, in September 2013, the three perpetrators pleaded guilty for the murder of Alyssa
  • Career criminals - Zwane, Mandlezi and Lubisi, appeared in the Johannesburg High Court, having pleaded guilty to nine of the 10 charges against them.

  • Break-in at Johannes Smit’s house, stealing several items including his 9mm pistol in the period between July 26 and 27, 2012.
  • Attempted murder of Joel Mabokela on August 1, 2012.
  • Attempted murder and robbery of Lelanie Ras, who was assaulted with a stone on August 1.
  • Assault and robbery of Sibusiso Spambo and his family on August 23.
  • Theft of horse blankets from Liliaan Groesbeek on August 26.
  • Murder of Alyssa Botha, 13, and the attempted the murder and robbery of her 17-year-old sister Meghan and her father Anton;
  • Murder and robbery of Andre Jordaan on September 13.
  • Burglary of Gopaul Nair’s property on September 13.
