He was hired as a labourer from Compagnie des Indes Occidentales, Pierre Gaigneur, a merchant in La Rochelle who hired him for a period of thirty six months at a salary of 70 livres a year. This contract mentioned that he was from Fontenay-Le-Compte in Vendée, his parents Pierre Sire and Jeanne Metayer were married in the church of Notre-Dame on August 23, 1626, meaning that André was born after 1627; he had a brother Pierre and a sister Marie. Once his contract ended in 1671 in Nouvelle-France, he set out to west to Saint-Ours were he cleared a piece of land and built his house and in 1673 he bought 60 acres of land in Sorel, André In 1675 went to the Jesuit at La Prairie, to receive the sacrament of confirmation, in March 6th,1678 he was named godfather to André Ethier son of Léonard and Isabelle Godion and the same year September 5th, witness to the marriage of Jacques Chevalier with Jeanne Vilair.
