Последним ветераном Второй Мировой войны в семье Романовых был Князь Андрей Андреевич (1923 – 2021). В 1942 году в самый разгар войны он поступил служить в королевский ВМФ Великобритании. Князь отказался принимать офицерскую должность, предпочитая быть простым матросом. Андрей Андреевич служил на лёгком крейсере «Шеффилд» под командованием адмирала сэра Сесила Харкорта. Потомок российских Государей принимал участие в арктических конвоях, и не раз ходил в Мурманск, при этом часто исполняя обязанности переводчика.
