Andrew was born on the farm in Auchmuty, near the parish of Markinch, in the county of Fife, Scotland. He learned stone masonry and distilling fruits in Scotland. Big Andy and his wife, Isabel Russell came to America with their 3 sons, Andrew, Thomas, and James came to America landing in Baltimore, Maryland through Buckingham County, Virginia to Silver Creek, Madison County, Kentucky. They built a station at Silver Creek and built the Thomas Bogie House and Mill, Andrew Bogie House and James Bogie House along with a mill, blacksmith shop, distillery for fruits, made gunpowder from getting salt peter from a cave near Silver Creek. They were the first people to bring cattle into Kentucky. He died July 1, 1823 and is buried at the bottom of the indian circular mounds on present day 1448 Mule Shed Lane, Silver Creek, Madison ( 37' 43' 42' N 84' 25' 28' W). I believe his wife, Isabel Russell, is also buried there.
