Andy Louis Sjostrand

Andy L. Sjostrand, 88, Grand Rapids, Minn., died Jan. 29, 2011 in Evergreen Terrace, Grand Rapids, Minn. Andy was born in 1922 to Albin and Mabel Sjostrand in Hallock, Minn., where he grew up and attended school and worked on the family farm. June 20, 1948, he was united in marriage to Marian Peterson in Hallock, Minn. Andy was employed with Hallock Creamery prior to moving to Grand Rapids, Minn., in 1961. He was employed with Itasca Creamery and retired in 1980. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was active in many activities which included volunteering as the bus driver for release time. Also, he volunteered at Camp Hiawatha. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, hunting, playing solitaire, and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins. He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant son in 1964; one granddaughter, Jennifer in 1993; two brothers, Morris and Ray Sjostrand: and one sister, Doris Kelley. He is survived by his loving wife, Marian, of 62 years; one daughter – Delores (Richard) Kantorowicz, Hilton Head, S.C.; three sons – Thomas (Joyce) Sjostrand, Grand Rapids, Minn.; Robert (Mona) Sjostrand, Grand Rapids, Minn.; Gary (Cheryl) Sjostrand, Grand Rapids, Minn.; two sisters: Jean Potrament, Lancaster, Minn., and Ann Peterson, East Grand Forks, Minn.; one brother – Glen (Phyllis) Sjostrand, East Grand Forks, Minn.; one sister-in-law Marlys Sjostrand, East Grand Forks, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service were Feb. 1 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, Minn. Rev. Lynn Ronsberg and Rev. Paul Leslie officiated. Burial was in Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Minn.
