Mrs. Angela Catherine "Angie" Basgall, 89, of McPherson, passed away at 9:19 a.m., Sunday, January 17th, 2010 peacefully at the Cedars House McPherson, Kansas.

Angela Catherine "Angie" Basgall, the daughter of John P. and Eva E. (Braun) Sanders, was born January 29, 1920 at Walker, Kansas. She was one of sixteen children born to this union, nine sons and seven daughters: Eugene, Edward, Evelyn, Sophie, Florine, Leona, Angela, Adolph, Edgar, Elmer, Virgil, Velma, Ralph, Arthur, Lila, and Reginald. Angie attended the Pfeifer grade schools and became a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Angie was united in marriage to Bruno Basgall on November 17, 1941 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pfeifer, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Pheifer, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, two sons and two daughters: Melvin, Norma, Kenneth, and Kay.

Angie was a homemaker and took great pride in providing for her family. Through the years she worked as a cook for the Loretta grade schools, Loretta, Kansas, as a cleaning person for St. John's Rest Home in Victoria, Kansas, and later as a cleaning person at St. Anthony's Hospital, Hays, Kansas. Angie was also the organist for Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pfeifer, Kansas. Angie was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a member of St. Joseph's Altar Society and was a former member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hays and Loretta, Kansas. She was a 78 year member of the daughters of Isabella. Angie moved to McPherson in 1981 moving from Hays, Kansas.

Angie was a devoted Christian, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her wise counsel, gentle guidance, and gracious smile will be missed by those who knew and loved her. She was very proud of her children and always wanted the best for them. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always looking forward to their visits and times they would share together. Angie spent many enjoyable hours cooking for her family and was well known for her homemade noodles. She also liked to work Find the Word Puzzles, playing her piano, singing, and country music. She and Bruno spent many weekends dancing both polka and waltz's.

Mrs. Angie Basgall, 89, of McPherson, passed away at 9:19 a.m., Sunday, January 17th, 2010 peacefully at the Cedars House, McPherson, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bruno; her brothers, Eugene, Monsignor Edward, Adolph, Arthur, Elmer, and Virgil Sanders; her sisters, Sister Evelyn Sanders, Sophia Meier, and Florine Dome; and two grandsons Kevin Basgall and Jeffrey Guffey.

Surviving family members include her children: Melvin J. Basgall and his wife Jametta, of LaCrosse, Kansas, Norma J. Basgall and her husband Steve Medoff, of Carlsbad, California, Kenneth E. Basgall of Los Angeles, California, and Kay F. Guffey and her husband John, of McPherson, Kansas; her siblings, Leona Klein, of Victoria, Kansas, Velma "Sandy" Batchelder, of Sparks, Nevada, Ralph Sanders and his wife Alma, of Hays, Kansas, Lila Klein and her husband Elmer, of Wichita, Kansas; and Father Reginald Sanders, of Tarkio, Missouri; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Friends are also invited to call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. following the visitation at Glidden - Ediger Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pfeifer, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 21st, with Father Reginald Sanders officiating.
