About Angus Campbell
Angus Campbell may be the brother of Alexander and Archibald. In 1797 Angus Campbell was at Balegown on the Poltalloch Estate at the time of the horse tax. Angus Campbell was a cottar with a house of little worth at Auchrome on the Poltalloch Estate at the time of the 1798 census.
"Angus remembered vividly the severe winter of 1771 when he had lost most of his cattle and sheep. The little corn (oats) he raised had been almost totally blighted by frost for two years before that, and the price of cattle was so low he could no longer have bread for his family." This no doubt refers to a time he was a tenant at another farm or township.
