Anibal de Castro

Legendary trombonist, who was also fluent with multiple instruments i.e. guitar, saxophone,flute, etc. he had been performing for over 50 years. On deciding to pursue a career in music he moved to Bombay in the mid 1950’s. His first musical break was recording at the Bollywood studios with Shankar and Jaikishen. He had since performed with many musicians over the years, playing classical, blues, jazz and big band music in India, Europe and USA. He accompanied Mohammed Rafi's entourage during the legendary singers tour of the USA. Some of the great Indian Classical musicians like Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Pandit Chourasia and Pandit Trilok Gurtu learnt the western music harmony from this great Musician from Divar. He also took part in some fusions concerts with the likes of Ustad Allarkha and Bhavani Shankar, besides being a regular performer at the famous Jazz Yatra. He descended from the same family as Dom. Matheus de Castro the first Indian Bishop of the Catholic Church.
