Anna M. McNamee was born in Iowa, May 12,1854, but moved to Missouri with her people in early childhood and there grew to womanhood .On April 16,1871, she was united in marriage to George W. Butcher. In 1889 they came to Nebraska settling in Cherry county. After a time they returned to Missouri only to return to Nebraska again, this time settling in Garfield county which has been their home since. Twelve children were born to them,two dying in infancy. The living are Mrs. Fred Bell, Ord, George W. of North Bend, W.H. of Burwell, Mrs J.W. Harbert of Chappell, Mrs. George Maxson of Valley View, Nebr.,Ralph of Burwell, J. K. of Morrill, Mrs Joe Rowbal of Ord, Mrs Edgar Sherman of Burwell and Boyd of Burwell. There are also fifty grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The aged husband and the above survive. Mrs.Butcher who passed away after a long illness and painful illness at the home of Mrs Bell Monday Aug 23, aged 66 yrs 3 months and 11 days. The funeral was held here and interment made in the Ord cemetery.
