Ann (Griffin) Bates, Free Settler "Britannia" 1791

Ann lived in the Balmain area with her home called "Strathlean Cottage" in the Mort Dock area of Balmain.

She died in the home of her daughter Lydia at "Pine Cottage" in Paddington, NSW.

Ann Griffin's birth was registered 4 August 1784 in St Nicholas' Church, Gloucester, England

and arriving on the 14th October 1791 on the "Britania", with her parents and younger brother Nathaniel Griffin and another brother Thomas Griffin was born en-route to Australia- both brother also became drummer boys for the NSW Corps at the ages of 7 years and 9 months and 8 years 8 months. Their sister Lydia was born in Sydney on 4 March 1794 her mother dying 6 months later on 1 September 1794 in Sydney Cove Sydney.
