About Anna R. McKinney
Anna R. McKinney - Indian drum services will be at 5 pm Thursday, October 20, 1988 at the Old Kickapoo Community Building on the Reservation, Horton, for Mrs. Anna R. Kah Ke Ka Quah McKinney, 88, Humansville, Mo. She died Monday, October 17, 1988, at a Humansville nursing home.
Mrs. McKinney formerly was a cook at a Topeka restaurant and later a seamstress most of her life for various garment companies.
She was born June 4, 1900, on the Kickapoo Reservation near Horton, the daughter of Alex and Annie Masquekua Rhodd.
Mrs. McKinney was a member of Indian drum religion and a former member of the auziliaries to American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts.
She was married to Henry McKinney in 1919 in Brown County. He died in November 1966. A daughter Beulah "Bam" Mckinney, died in 1980, and a son, Thaddus "Sandy" Mckinney, died in 1984.
Survivors include four daughters, Adelia "Dee" Gutierrez, Jeanette Bowsher and Gwendolyn Burns McKinney, all of Horton, and Itis Milton, Shell City, Mo.; six sons, Lowell McKinney, Horton, Lucian McKinney, Mayetta, Henry McKinney, Humansville, Mo., Donald McKinney, Topeka, Oran McKinney, Rosebud, SD, and Dwight McKinney, Depew Oklahoma; a brother Harvey Rhodd, Horton; 40 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Burial will be Friday, October 21, in Kennekuk Cemetery on the Reservation.
