About Anna Wagner

Fredrich arrived in New York aboard the vessel Rhein on September 20, 1879 from Bremen. Anna arrived in New York aboard the vessel Lessing from Hamburg. Anna was born in Saxony. Both were from Prussia, a part of the German Empire. Both traveled to Hamilton County, Ohio to live in Cincinnati. They met there and in 1884 were married in Allen County, Indiana.

Mayme was later born in Cincinnati. They then moved to Ft. Wayne. They lived near the Centlivre Brewery where he was employed as a brewer. In 1898 he was employed as a porter. They lived at 818 Canal Street. In 1901 he started a saloon at 1723 East Wayne Street. They lived in same home and he operated the saloon until about 1908. They then moved to 1327 Erie Street. He opened a mushroom company in 1909 where he grew and sold his own mushrooms. In 1911 he also went to work for P.I. Stahl as a bartender. In 1914 they built a new home at 600 North Anthony near the river. This is now a park area on the southeast corner of Anthony and Niagra, directly across from where the dam is now located. In 1916 Fredrich died of diabetes. At a later time the city fo Ft. Wayne purchased the home and moved it to 1205 Pemberton Drive. Anna lived in this home until she died in 1936.
