MARY STONOR, married JOHN BARANTYNE, Esq., of Little Haseley, Chalgrove, Clare (in Pyrton), Goldor and Rufford, Oxfordshire, and Popham, Hampshire, son and heir of John Barantyne, Esq., of Little Haseley, Chalgrove, Clare, etc., and London, Knight of the shire for Oxfordshire, by Elizabeth, 3rd daughter and co-heiress of Stephen Popham, Knt. He was born about 1460 (aged 14 in 1474). They had one son, 'William, Knt.' He sold the manor of Chalgrove, Goldor, Henton, and Rufford, Oxfordshire to Thomas Danvers in 1485. JOHN BARANTYNE, Esq., died 21 Dec. 1485, and was buried at Friars Preachers, London. His widow, Mary, was living in 1486. . . . .

He married (3rd) before 1539 JANE LEWKNOR, widow successively of Christopher Pickering, Knt. (died 7 Sept. 1516) and Arthur Pole, Knt. (died 1535/6), and daughter and co-heiress of Roger Lewknor, Knt., of Dedisham and Bodiam, Sussex, by Eleanor, daughter of John Audley, 6th Lord Audley. She was born about 1503 (age 40 at her father's death in 1543). They had two sons, Drew and Charles. William and Jane's marriage was declared invalid on 15 Dec 1540, she having taken a vow of perpetual chastity following the death of her prior husband, Arthur Pole, Knt. By act of Parliament dated 34 and 35 Henry VIII (c.1543/4), William and Jane's issue was deemed to be legitimate. SIR WILLIAM BARANTYNE died testate (P.C.C. 5 Coode) 17 Nov. 1549, and was buried at Haseley, Oxfordshire. . . . .
