- Born to the prominent Jean Louis Paul Francois de Noailles, Comte d'Ayne (1739-1824), a grand daughter of Louis de Noailles, Duc d'Ayen and de Noailles (1713-1793), Vicomtesse Anne Jeanne Baptiste Pauline Adrienne Louise Caherine Dominique de Noailles (1758-94) is the last direct descendent of Adrien Maurice, Duc de Noailles (1678-1766).
- A modest but still very joie de vivreuse, Vicomtesse de Noailles enjoys the life she yas so far. From her god-parents she inheirted the title and estates of Baronne de Lautrec, making her a independent and very young woman. Crumbling under familial pressures, Jeanne de Noailles married her cousin, Louis-Marie Antoine, Vicomte de Noailles, Baron de Mouchey and d'Arpajon, Chevalier de Malte (1756-1804). Hand- some and vain, the Vicomte de Noailles is close friend of the Comte d'Artois, brother of Louis XVI.
- Now, three years into the unhappy marriage, Jeanne has been unable to provide her family with an heir. Exasperated with his willfull, insecure and melancholic wife, the young Vicomte has developed a gambling addiction and a penchant for a visiting Russian countess.
