About Annie Maria Amis
After Harry's first wife died, Annie came to look after the children - presumably as a paid employee. They became a couple and had two children together before marrying.
After Harry (Henry) died she married one of the shop employees (known as "old Perkins") and continued to run the business. One day one of her step-children threw a weight (from the shop scales) at her in anger. It hit her on the head and she died a few weeks later of a brain haemorrhage. (Which seems like manslaughter to me.)
She left £1,078 14s 8d in her will.
