Anne Veazey Bickel, 89, of Durham passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at Duke University Hospital. Born on Veazey Ridge in Granville County, Mrs. Bickel was the daughter of the late Walter Veazey and Neta Dare Clark Veazey.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Arthur Bickel whom she married January 1, 1955.

Anne was a member of Braggtown Baptist Church for 60 years and the Durham Civitans Club. She loved to garden and sew. Mrs. Bickel was a retired branch manager at Security Federal Saving and Loan (BB&T).

She is survived by two sons, Randy Bickel and wife Donna, of Spotsylvania, VA, and Gregory W. Bickel, of Santa Rosa, CA; two step-grandchildren, Amber Bowman Costanzo and Drew Bowman; two brothers, Joe Clark Veasey and Robert L. Veasey and wife Merle; a sister-in-law, Lenore Veasey; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Leamon Veasey; and a sister-in-law, Mary Veasey.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2015 at Clements Funeral Chapel, Durham, with Pastor Eric Burmahl officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Clements Funeral Home, Durham.
