HALEY, Annie Lucille, 104, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2017, at her home in Ashland. She was born in Caroline County in 1912, to Edna Cobb and Audubon Leonard Smith. She and her family, which included five siblings, Lloyd, Audubon, Leonard, Ashton and Louise, lived on Cool Water Farm in Caroline County. Lucille was a very good student and her love of learning allowed her to further her education at Fredericksburg State Teachers College (University of Mary Washington). Upon graduation in 1932, she and her husband, Cedon, were married and made their home in Ashland, where they raised their four children. Lucille loved to dance (especially the Charleston), even into her 90s. She also loved to play bridge, travel with her family and friends and attend basketball games. She attended almost all of the home men and women's basketball games at Randolph-Macon College for many years. She was a proud member of "The Golden Girls" as a supporter of the teams. Preceding her in death were her husband, Cedon; son, C.J.; grandchildren, Donna and Chris; sons-in-law, Don Gregory and Morris Rooke
