About Annie Lyons
1900 census Annie Lyons (b. June 1860) is living with her parents Robert (June 1836 PA IR IR) and Bridget (Oct 1836 PA IR IR; it indicates they had been married 40 years, so this is apparently the same wife known as Mary earlier) Doak at 1111 Maple Street (near South Van Buren Street) in Wilmington, Delaware. Also living with them were Lyons children Annie (Jan 1881), Florence (Dec 1882), Frances (July 1885), Roberta (Mar 1888), Francis (Apr 1891) and Irene (Apr 1896). Marked as married, as is her husband, but he is living in a boarding house elsewhere in Wilmington. The three teenaged girls are laborers at "Morocco Fty." Wilmington at this time was known for its morocco factories, which tanned goatskins and other leather hides to create a soft leather used for gloves.
1910 census Annie is marked as widowed (but her husband was alive ten years later in 1920), living on Orange St near West Sixth in Wilmington, Delaware, with 5 of her children (it appears that oldest daughter Annie has died since 1900, since the census indicates that she has only 5 living children): Florence, Francis (dau), Bertha, Frank and Irene, all single, ages 27 to 14. Annie is the proprietress of a boarding house, while Florence sells dry goods, Frances is a seamstress, and Bertha makes cigars in a cigar factory. They share a rental house with the Hudson family of four.
