Annie Winter 1887 – born about this year no records found. Possible that she was informally adopted by Catherine Dougan nee Downie before 1891 as Annie O’Brien born 1886, mother James O’Brien, mother Annie Campbell - to be verified. 1897 - George Winter and Catherine Dougan marry, he is listed as a dock watchman but has also been listed in other documents as a ships stoker. His Father is listed as John Winter Ship owner, his mother Frances nee Charles. 1901 - Annie on census as Annie Winter living with Catherine Winter and Catherine’s sons from previous marriage; Michael Dougen 23 and James Dougen 19. Annie is listed as stepdaughter and born in Glasgow but no evidence of this found. George Winter not mentioned in the census but may have been away that night. Catherine Winter was listed as wife and not ‘head’ so he maybe still around. 1910 - Annie marries at 23 to John Sweeney, a coal miner. Number of children unknown as names not known so cannot trace 1911 - John Sweeney joins the Kings own Scottish Borderers but army doc shows him listed as single. 1912 - Annie has Grace Winter O’Brien, no father listed on birth certificate but George O’Brien is mentioned in Graces marriage certificate. 1915 John Sweeney dies in Egypt WW1 1916 - Annie has Agnes Winter Middleton with William Middleton – illegitimate 1918 - Annie marries George Bryson, children found Willian George Bryson in 1919 1923 - Annie marries Andrew Devlin, children possibly just Arthur and Andrew Jnr. 1941 - Annie dies of heart disease for 11 months aged 53 death registered by Andrew Devlin
