About Anthony "Tony" Guilfoyle
Anthony "Tony" Guilfoyle was an Irish-born American construction worker, real estate investor, military veteran, and political adviser. Known as "The Godfather" of San Francisco politics, he worked for numerous political campaigns and was a close adviser to elected officials. He was a founding member and executive adviser of the San Francisco Coalition for Responsible Growth. One of the politicians he mentored was Gavin Newsom, who became his son-in-law.
Tony, the eldest of six children in County Clare, Ireland, emigrated to the United States in 1957. He served in the United States Army and achieved the rank of staff sergeant.
With his wife, Mercedes Marie Gerena, he had two children, including former prosecutor and television host Kimberly Guilfoyle.
