Anton Conrad Groth

Anton Conrad Groth was born on July 9, 1878 at St. Ansgar, Mitchell county, Iowa, the son of Assor Halstenson Groth and Kirsti Jacobsdatter Aslesen Groth. Anton died on March 17, 1960 at Osage, Iowa. Burial was in the First Lutheran Church cemetery at St. Ansgar.

On February 17, 1904 Conrad was married to Ida Bertine Gunderson, the daughter of John E. Tormoen Gunderson and Barbro Sagabraaten Knudsdatter Gunderson. Conrad and Ida were the parents of seven children: Assor Conrad, Albin Irving, Albin James, Gerhard, Norris Selvin, Ardella Ilene (Mrs. Clifford Warrington) and Claire Holland Groth.

Anton attended the common schools and supplemented his early education with four years' study in the St. Ansgar Seminary, and graduated on the 11th of June, 1897. He then engaged in truck gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons: Albin Irving Groth was born and died in 1908, and Gerhard Gunderson Groth was born and died in 1912.

He is survived by his wife, Ida, and by four sons and a daughter.
