Anton Gress {Gresz}

Anton and Barbara Gresz moved from North Dakota to Clark County, Washington in 1899 where they purchased 160 acres. They gave an endowment of 1.7 acres to the Catholic Diocese to be used for a Cemetery. This Cemetery is located in what is now Washougal, near my present home. The beautiful land that they owned rose upwards from the Columbia River to a hill top where lovely view property homes are now situated. The property near the Columbia River is now a wild life refuge.

The Gresz family home in which my dad was born still remains standing and is a historical property.

The Gress name was formerly spelled Gresz . My Grandpa, Mike Gress changed the spelling of his name dropping the z and changing it to s.
