ACCIDENT No. 28 — June 22, 1913 — Anthony Coppo, No. 7, C. & H.
Anthony Coppo, Italian, employed by said company as timberman at the 69th level, No. 7 Shaft, was killed on this date by a fall of rock.
Justice Fisher conducted an inquest over his body. The following witnesses gave their testimony:
Anthony Jera: “I am a timberman. Was present at time of accident to deceased. Coppo went up to pinch down rock and the other rock came down from behind. He said that it was the safest place; he jumped behind when the rock caught him. He did exactly what I would have done."

Verdict: "We, the jury, upon our oaths, do say that the said Anthony Coppo came to his death from injuries received at the 69th level, No. 7 Shaft of the C.&H. Mine, by a fall of rock, on Sunday, June 22, 1913, at 1:30 o'clock a.m., which caused his death about two hours later."
