About Antonio Farelli
Antonio Farelli was the principal conductor at the San Carlo, Naples, from 1839 until 1860. He conducted in the first world premiere of Verdi's Alzira at San Carlo, Naples, 12 Aug 1845. He also conducted in the first premiere of Verdi's Luisa Miller on 8 December 1849. In the premieres he also played the first violin. Verdi himself was on cembalo for the recitatives.
