ARCHIBALD CUNNINGHAM OF WATERSTOUN

Archibald Cunningham of Waterstoun is the second son of Sir Robert Cuninghame of Kilmaurs and his wife Anne Montgomery. His older brother Alexander was the first earl of Glencairn. The Scots Peerage, iv, p. 232 Archibald Cunningham of Waterstoun was murdered by the Earl of Eglinton in 1528. Historical Tales and Legends of Ayrshire , p. 17

27 April 1458: Charter by which Alexander Cunningham, lord of Kilmaurs, confirms that has given Walterstoun in the barony of Renfrew to his younger brother Archibald in return for his homage and service. 9 March 1498: Attestation that Cuthbert Lord Kilmaurs, Archibald Cunningham, his brother, Andrew Cunningham, brother of the Laird of Cunninghamhead, Guido Cunningham, Patrick Starmond, George Kelso and John Mowat compeared before George Earl of Huntly, Justice General south of the Water Forth in a court holden at the burgh of Ayr, and were found guilty art and part of forethought felony committed by them or Hugh Lord Montgomerie when holding a court of the bailiary of Cunningham, and also for breaking of the kings protection, for all which they were fined.
