(Research):I suggest that you go to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk <http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk> and find and downlaod the image of the birth certificate of Walter Lamond Gordon, born 1855. This is because an 1855 birth certificate contains a huge amount of information which was not collected in any other year; including the birthplaces of both parents.

You can then look for the death certificates of both Archibald and Isabella, since you now have their ages. These will tell you the names of their parents. Go for her first, because she will be indexed under both her married and her maiden name. Her death will tell you whether she was married or widowed, which will narrow down the search for Archibald. You know from the census that both were alive on 4 April 1881.

I think that the chances of making a link between your Archibald, who was born in Aberdeen, and Alexander Gordon, head of the family in my earlier post, who was born in Boharm, which straddles the boundary of Banffshire and Moray, are fairly small, because Gordon is an extremely common name in this area. But you never know!
