Jane: I was looking through some old research data I have collected on McGowans and low and behold, I did find an Archibald McGowan. This is what it says: On March 2, 1764, Alexander McNaughton and 106 others of the original Campbell imigrants and their descendants petitioned for 100 acres to be granted to each of them. On the list of grantees, no. of lots and contents are: Mary McGowne, lot #8 300 acres Archibald McGowne Lot #17, 300 acres John McGowan Lot #50, 300 acres John McEwen Lot # 106, 500 acres Archibald McEwen, lot # 106, 300 acres Marian Mc Ewen, lot # 110, 200 acres John McGowne, Jr. Lot # 112, 250 acres Hannah McEwen, lot #64, 450 acres This is all I found. I hope it helps you." Linda
