He was a fine carpenter and millwright as you will see further along. Around the year of 1845 he located on the Middle Fork River, 15 miles south of Buckhannon and erected a Grist Mill. As progress increased he added to his mill until he had an up-to-date flour and saw mill. He also added machinery for carding wool into "rools" ready to be spun on a hand wheel, commonly called a Big Wheel. The Post Office, which was established at his mill was first called Queen's Mill, later it was changed to just Queen's, and is still the name serving that community. Nancy Queen, the wife of Armstead Queen, died at the, home of her daughter, Jane Bonner, who lived in the western part of Randolph Co., about ten miles from Queen's Post Office.

Armstead, died, and it was posted in the "Buckhannon Delta" newspaper as follows

Thursday, September 13, 1883. "A. C. Queen. " The Rev. J. J. Mason to preach funeral at 10:00 on the next Sabbath, at the Nero Church.

Armstead rests in the cemetery over looking the town of Queen's, that he helped, to create and still carries his name, along with his wife Nancy , his son Albert, and Citadel Queen an infant granddaughter (daughter of Charles Elmore and Rebecca Queen .
