About Asa Littlefield
Christened Aug. 8, 1762 Braintree, Norfolk, MA. Revoluntionary War. Asa applied for pension Jul 1837 & alleged: he enlisted at Stoughton, MA. on June 1, 1778 under Lt. Peter Dunbar, marched to Boston, after 9 or 10 days was ordered to 'Noodle's Island' near Boston & served as guard under Sgt.'s Crane & Turner. He returned home after 6 mths. Pension was not allowed as proof of service was not furnished as required by the pension law. He resided in Stoughton, MA. until about Apr. 1779, moved then to Guildford, VT. where he resided about 15 yrs. He them moved to Readsboro, Bennington, VT. where he resided in 1837. Much of the info came from a reply letter from the National Archives, Washington D.C. (R 6 387).
