About Astrid Olsdatter Aabol

The farm on which she was raised was known as Raneim, Stokkebryn in 1865 by which time it was owned by her oldest brother, Ole Olessen Stokkebryn. She immigrated on 20 July 1877 with her five children, leaving on the Angelo sailing from Oslo to Hull. http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/gen/vis/8/pe00000000432309 There the family would have travelled to Liverpool or Glascow to board a ship travelling to Quebec, Halifax, or New York. She was living in Rockland, Manitowoc in 1880 and in Liberty in June 1900. She may have moved to Mason County, Washington in the same year. Her son, Ole, was listed as a resident in Grove Precinct, Chehalis County on 14 June 1900. Esther (Astrid), Ida, and Otto established a homestead in the upper Skokomish Valley; by 1910 they were among 21 farm families in this area housing 88 people; by 1920, their number had grown to some 37 families housing 199 people. A post office was established at Mohrweis in 1907 with John G. Mohrweis as postmaster.
