About Barbara Peck
Barbara Lyter (sometimes spelled Leiter or Leyder) was the first wife of Conrad Peck, whom she married in March 1812. They had nine known children, all born in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania:
1) Marie (1812-1883), m. Joshua Shaffer; 2) Elias (b. 9 Dec. 1814), m. Priscilla ________; 3) Simon (1816-1899) m. Mary Ann Singer; 4) Sarah A. (1818-1896), m. Michael Waltz; 5) Joseph (b. 10 April 1821); 6) Jacob C. (1824-1890), m. Mary Zug; 7) Elizabeth (1826-1903), m. Joseph Amos Becker; 8) John Frederick (1828-1909) m. Angeline ________; 9) Catherine (b. 1831)
In 1851 Barbara died outside Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at the age of 59 years, and was buried on Christian Leiter property. The little burial ground may no longer be in existence.
Note: Barbara's daughter Elizabeth Peck married Joseph Amos Becker in Pensylvania in 1845. They had a large family of thirteen known children, all of whom were born in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania except for the youngest two who were born in Berrien County, Michigan after the family moved there in about 1865. Their youngest child, Rev. Allen Oliver Becker, was a missionary to India. His wife Nellie E. (Baumgardner) Becker , daughters Ruth and Marion and son Richard were survivors of the sinking of the Titanic.
