The Reverend Dirk Postma of the Christian Reformed Church in the Netherlands came to South Africa and helped the conservatives to found their own church. It was called the Reformed Church (as opposed to the Dutch Reformed Church) and became known among Afrikaners as the Dopper Church. One of the leading conservatives was my grandfather, Barend de Klerk.
