About Barent Adamse Vrooman
He was carried off by the Indians to Canada in the Schenectady Massacre of 1690. In 1697 his father Adam went to Canada with an embassy to try to obtain his release.
Barent Vrooman was by trade a carpenter, Indian trader and brewer, owning the brewhouse on Union street with his father Adam, and afterwards with his brother Jan.
BARENT, son of Adam, m. Tryntje, dau. of Takel Heemstraat of Albany, June 18, 1699. (She was the daughter of his father's third wife.) He and his brother Jan had a brewery on north side of Union Street, near or upon the crossing of the New York Central Rail Road; he lived on the north corner of Centre and State Streets; buried in Albany Aug. 14, 1746. Ch. bp: Adam, Jan. 9, 1700; Engeltie, March 6, 1711.
Biography Barent Vrooman, son of Adam and Engeltie Vrooman was born born in 1679. He married June 18, 1699 Tryntje (Catrina) Heemstraat, daughter of Takel Heemstraat of Albany.
Barent and his brother Jan Vrooman owned a brewery.
He made his will in 1744. He died 14 August, 1746 and his will was proved in 1749 and he mentions his wife "Trienteie" and his niece "Martie" wife of Isaac Swits. She was the daughter of his brother Hendrick.[1][2]
