Barrington Fowler Vaxter

On January 29th, 1960,in Gary, Indiana's Methodist Hospital ,Velma Vaxter delivered her first son and crowned him with the regal name of Barrington Fowler Vaxter. However, upon delivery, it appeared that the infant wasn't breathing. The doctor took the child and resuscitated him, and from that point, Barry began his fight and love for life.

Barrington attended schools in Chicago, Illinois; Jackson County, Mississippi (East Central); and Perkinston Junior College in Perkinston, Mississippi. He excelled academically and was a gifted athlete—adroit in baseball, basketball, football, track, and lacrosse. He also was masterful in various table games, and he was a spirited dancer. Barry was quite a talker and could captivate you with his inherent charm. He would make you love him with his humor—and love him even more because he was a grateful person.

What he loved the most in life, though, was the Lord, and he accepted the Lord at an early age. However, he radically rededicated his life seven years ago in a tent meeting in Three Rivers and became an avid member of Word of Christ Ministry in Jackson, Mississippi. He witnessed to people about the beauty of Christ—giving mini sermons to anyone who would listen. His testimony of a thorough, clean deliverance is his legacy.

Preceding him in death were his parents: Ernest Vaxter and Velma Freeman Vaxter, and three siblings: Maureen Vaxter Johnson , Gregory Vaxter & Sandra Riley. Left to cherish his memory are his spouse, Chante Vaxter; two daughters: DyShika Osgood (Miguel) of Moss Point, Mississippi and Diamond Vaxter of Moss Point, Mississippi; two sons: Barrington Frank Vaxter, Iowa City, Iowa and Devonte Robinson, Sr. of Jackson, Mississippi; four grandchildren: Raven Bradley, Ressie Doss, Michael Doss, Jr., and Devonte Robinson, Jr.; two great grandchildren: Nicole Riley and Aydan Payton; fourteen siblings: Elaine Vaxter, Moss Point, Mississippi; Cathy Phillips (Voies), Frankfort, Illinois; Constance Vaxter, Gautier, Mississippi; Pastor Anthony Vaxter (Victoria), Grapevine, Texas; Renell Vaxter and Rodney Vaxter, Gary, Indiana; Barton Vaxter and Brian Vaxter (Felicia), of Chicago, Illinois; Jeffrey Vaxter (Cynthia), Moss Point, Mississippi; Ernell Vaxter (Priscilla), Lucedale, Mississippi; Rudolph Riley (Beverly), Moss Point, Mississippi; David Riley (Beverly), Orlando, Florida; Charlotte Brazzle, Moss Point, Mississippi; and Susan Joseph (Kevin), Dallas, Texas; and a devoted aunt: Jacqueline Wheelock of Madison, Mississippi.Barrington, known to some as Chilli, will be sorely missed by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
