About Basia Eisenstein
Basia Lipkowicz moved from Dolginovo (that time a part of Poland) to Wilno with her family circa 1910-1911. She emigrated from Wilno to Grenoble, France on her own in 1929. She worked on various clerical positions in Paris until May 1940, when Nazis occupied France. She was able to survive the time of Nazis Occupation of France (1940-1944) and subsequent Soviet searches of allegedly Soviet citizens (1944-1946). Basia never was a Soviet Citizen. Finally, Basia became a Naturalized French Citizen in 1946. She peacefully died in 1998 in Paris never telling her story completely. She left behind a lot of unsigned pictures.
