About Beatrice Lucille Dill

DILL, Lucille G. "Sue" 96, of Springfield, passed away, Monday, May 30, 2011 following a brief illness. She was born October 2, 1914, in Albright, WV, the daughter of the late Charles Gaylord and Vernie Lowe Gibson. She lived in Springfield since 1938 and was a member of Oakland Presbyterian Church for nearly 60 years, where she was a deaconess. She was the sole surviving member of the MOGA Club (Mothers of Garden Acres), a local homemakers group formed after World War II. Sue loved to travel and loved life. Following the death of her husband, she worked for several years as secretary for the Academy of Dentistry for the Handicapped. Her neighbors affectionately called her "Mrs. Information," due to her insatiable knowledge and amazing recall of facts. She was a keen observer of life and was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, especially their football team. She is survived by sons, David (Martha) of Carlsbad, CA; Brian (Barbara) of Lakeland, FL; four grandchildren, Daniel Dill (Brigitte), of Silver Spring, MD; David Dill, of Clayton, MO; Lauren Lopez, of Long Beach, CA; Krista Dill of Dana Point, CA; a sister, Grace Brailer, of Kingwood, WV; and 21 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Dill; brothers, Wade and Glen Gibson; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Curry Dill. Sue's family wishes to thank her many friends and neighbors for their kindness and support, with special appreciation to Patricia "Pat" Larson, her guardian angel for more than 10 years, and to Tommie Otway, longtime church friend and faithful witness to God's love in Jesus Christ. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Brian K. Dill, will be held Monday, June 6, at 2:00 p.m., in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, preceded by an hour of visitation. Interment will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Oakland Presbyterian Church, 2327 E. High St., Springfield, OH 45505.
