About Benjamin Edward Carr

Following a lingering illness and after a serious operation Edward Carr passed away on September 11, 1946 at his home, Painswick. Son of the late Robert A. Carr and Phoebe Warnica, he was born April 25, 1892 at Painswick. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, Innisfil and a Past Master of Minerva Lodge, AF & AM, Stroud. He served as Director and Manager of Stroud Telephone Co. for the past 15 years.

His entire life was spent in farming with the exception of two years in the general store and post office, Painswick.

Surviving are his wife, formerly Sadie Brown of Holly; one son, Burton at home; two sisters, Miss Rebecca Carr of Barrie, and Mrs. (Rev.) A.G. Channen of Whitby, two brothers, Selby Carr of Painswick and Wm. H. Carr of Toronto.

The funeral service, Friday, September 13 was conducted by Rev. Newton-Smith of St. Paul's Church. Interment was made in St. Paul's Cemetery with the following pallbearers: Wallace Tribble, James Morrison, Dalton Lennox, Darcy Lennox, Walter Fralick and Lorne Johnston.

Among the beautiful flowers completely banking one side of the large room were tributes from Minerva Lodge, Stroud Telephone Co., Painsick Women's Institute, Painswick Crokinole Club, neighbors, relatives and friends.

Among the large number present at the funeral were Mrs. A.G. Channen, Whitby; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Brown, Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Carr, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Lounsbury, Mr. and Mrs. Will Hunt, Jos. Hunt and Miss Miriam Hunt, all of Toronto.
