Benjamin Chadwell, second son of Thomas1 and Margaret Chadwell. was born in Lynn 1642. He married In Charlestown 20 December 1666 Elizabeth Howe, only child of Joseph Howe and Elisabeth Needham. Benjamin Chadwell was also a ship's carpenter. He died "at sea" in April 1679 at the age of 37. His widow married (2) John Jewitt of Ipswich, (3) Deacon Ezekial Jewitt of Rowley, and (4) Ensign Andrew Stickney.

Thos. Chadwell, 4th mo., 1684. The Will of Thomas Chadwell, Sen'r, of the Town of Lynn, dated 25th of February, 1683, mentions my son Moses Chadwell, and at his death to Sarah his wife, and at her death to their sons, if any, and if not, to their daughters, if any, my Daughter Ruth Needham, my grandchild Thomas Chadwell. I appoint Sarah, the wife of my son Moses, sole executrix; witnesses, William Crofts and Samuel Cobbett. Allowed _____

Benjamin was a Ship's carpenter and his descendants became the Ipswich branch of the family. Inventory of his estate is in Essex Probate, 1679.

On 23 February 1664/5, William Bassett of Lynn, husbandman, and Sarah his wife sold to Allen Bread of Lynn, husbandman, 2 acres of salt marsh in Rumney Marsh, Suffolk co., MA[22]. On 29 October 1667, Edward Richards of Lynn, joiner, and Ann his wife sold to WIlliam Bassett of Lynn, husbandman, 12 acres of land, presumably in Lynn, Essex co., MA[23]. On 15 April 1675, Benjamin Chadwell of Lynn, husbandman, with the consent of Elizabeth his wife, sold to William Bassett of Lynn, husbandman, 8 acres of salt marsh in Rumney Marsh, Suffolk co., MA[24]. On 28 June 1680, Thomas Wheeler of Stonington, yeoman, sold to William Bassett, Sr. of Lynn, yeoman, 9 acres of fresh marsh, location unknown[25].
