About Benjamin Franklin Jones

Ben Jones was born in Mercer County, Illinois, Around 1870 he moved to Butler County, Kansas, along with several brothers (John, James, Alonzo, Isaac), and one sister (Elizabeth Burroughs). In 1893 he moved to Oklahoma and participated in the land rush in Noble County. He had a farm near Morrison, Oklahoma. After his wife, Mattie, died in in 1910, he married Myrtle Kaats, a widow. Ben died in 1918 and Myrtle remained on the farm for several years with her son and his family. In 1930 she and her son show up in Queens, New York. The farm was sold around 1940 over the objections of Myrtle and the proceeds divided among the heirs. Around 1939-1940, a nephew of Ben, Addison Woods lived on the farm.
