About Benjamin D’Urban Godlonton

Some trees on "My Heritage" have that he had a second wife "Unknown Ayliff"? There doesn't seem to be any evidence of that.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

He was a partner in the law firm of Syfret, Godlonton and Low. His son, D'Urban Bruce Godlonton was also a partner in the firm. (Arthur George Syfret was Cecil Rhodes' lawyer)

Moved to Port Elizabeth. Was a partner in a firm that handled some business for Cecil Rhodes, one-time Governor-General of Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. Middle name for Benjamin, was most certainly derived from the Governor-General Benjamin D'Urban. D'Urban was known to provide critical support of Hon. Robert Godlonton, Benjamin's father. Benjamin and his wife Flora, it has been said, wanted their sone Robert Godlonton to become a surgeon. He became the Black Sheep of the family, it has been said, when he disappeared from his family without leaving a trace for many years. With Flora, had as many as nine children.
