Born in Button, Mass. He served in the Revolutionary War- answering "an alarm in Rhode Island" from Button, Mass. He married Mellison Davenport in 1765 whose mother was a sister of Judge John Hawthorne of the Salem Witch Trials who was the grandfather of Nathaniel Hawthorne. Mellison Davenport was from Boston, Mass.
