Benjamin Moseley

Grave Inscription: Here lie the remains of Benjamin Moseley, who departed this life June 5th 1857 Aged 76 years 6 months and 9 days.

"But I have trusted in thy mercies my heart shall rejoice in they salvation."

Moved to Putnam County, GA from Nansemond County, VA. Large land and slave owner. To each of his children he gave 1200 acres of land and sufficient slaves to run same.

Moseley bible record at state archives, mentions Benjamin and Louise Blount Moseley as parents of James Blount Moseley, but gives no dates of births, deaths or marriages. US Census for Putnam County, 1850, p 306, shows Benjamin Moseley living in 71st District. His wife's name does not appear in his delclaration, so she must have died before that year. Benjamin does not appear in the 1860 census for Putnam, so he must have died before then.
