About Benjamin Penfield
Benjamin never married. He inherited Jonathan's estate when other's waived rights.
In the history of Durham CT. 1662-1866 p. 169 "A man named Penfield used to buy apples from Gideon Leete who owned a lot opposite Mr. John Wilcocks, where they grew, and to give parties and invite the young folks. He would give a particular kind of apple to each girl, kissing her at the same time, much to the amusement of the young fellows. The apples became known as "Bussing Apples". He became old and poor and the young men made up a subscription for him and clothed him well, and invited him to a party for the fun of seeing him give an apple and kiss to each girl." This is Benjamin Penfield, who got the apples from his brother-in-law, Gideon Leete.
