About Benjamin Aartsen Van Wagenen
He and his brother Symon took possession of "Het Killities Landt" (Land of Little Streams) sometime after 1686, an this property was later doubled in size by a grandson of Symon. The "Het Killities" name for this farm was first noted in a deed of 1726. The family would build several homes in the vicinity, the finest of them being "Maple Lawn", which was built on the crossroads in 1751, leaving this to be working farm. Later known as the "homestead" or "Sahler's farm", the farm remained in the family by approximately 200 years. A smokehouse, icehouse and slaughterhouse were maintained into the twentieth century, while dairy farming continued through 1971.
